Protecting your mind from evil
by Rick Warren

You've probably heard the old commercial that says, "A mind is a terrible thing to waste." I couldn't agree more. A pastoral response to an unspeakable tragedy
by Lane Palmer

After last week's heart-wrenching tragedy at Virginia Tech, many church leaders around the country are trying to discern how to help their people come to terms with the situation. Lane Palmer has been there. As a youth pastor in Littleton, Colo., when the 1999 Columbine shootings took place, Palmer has experienced insight to pass on about ministry in difficult situations like this – along with some thoughts for a potential sermon on the subject.

Launch: Starting a New Church from Scratch
Nelson Searcy and Kerrick Thomas (Regal, 2007)

If you are looking to start a new church and feel like everything is working against you, you're not alone. Nelson Searcy (a former staff member at Saddleback) and Kerrick Thomas know where you are coming from. They launched a new church in New York City after 9/11 with no members, no money, and no staff. And in just three years they watched the new church grow to more than a thousand in attendance. In this book they share how they did it and give you specific strategies to do the same in your community.

Podcast: Mobilizing Your Church in the Wake of a Disaster or Tragedy - After last week's tragedy at Virginia Tech, Pastor Rick recorded this podcast conversation with pastors from around the country who have been actively involved in ministry after a major disaster. Involved in the discussion were two pastors near Virginia Tech, along with pastors who ministered in the wake of the Columbine shooting, the 2004 tsunami in Southeast Asia, and Hurricane Katrina.
Make criticism your ally - Everyone in ministry has to learn how to deal with critics from time to time. This blog entry explores how criticism can help make your ministry stronger – instead of tearing it down.
National Day of Prayer - May 3 - The National Day of Prayer is coming up quickly! Visit the NDOP Web site for information about finding events in your area or resources that may help you.
Potential National Day of Prayer messages - If you need some help on your National Day of Prayer messages, check out some of Rick Warren's earlier messages on prayer.
Survey on churches and volunteering - Saddleback Church's base pastors have been given a unique responsibility by Pastor Rick. They've been asked to not only champion their particular purpose (worship, fellowship, discipleship, ministry, or missions) locally, but to do so nationally and globally as well. Saddleback's Ministry Pastor Erik Rees is doing a survey to find out what needs churches have related to mobilizing every member for ministry.
