by Rick Warren

Developing servanthood in leadership
by Jeff Iorg

What you do as a leader isn't nearly as important as who you are. And if you're a church leader, you're a servant. In this article Jeff Iorg, president of Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary, shares four ways to become a more servant-minded leader.

Life Sentences
Warren W. Wiersbe (Zondervan, 2007)

Written by one of the most respected biblical teachers of the last century, this book gives pastors great overviews of 63 biblical characters – from the most prominent to minor ones. For each character, Wiersbe isolates one key sentence that defines the person and centers his exposition on the characters around it. It'll be a nice resource to look at whenever you study or preach about particular people from the Bible.

"We try to balance our preaching at Saddleback in several ways. I try to give a purpose-driven balance. I will do a series, somehow, dealing with worship, a series on evangelism, a series on discipleship, a series on ministry, and a series on fellowship. I will cover those five things every year because they are the purposes of the church." - Rick Warren

"For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men." - Titus 2:11 (NKJV)

The Saddleback Story - Pastor Rick is getting Saddleback ready for a vision message this weekend. In preparation he asked all members of Saddleback to listen to part of this staff meeting message he shared recently. The message explains many of the sacrifices that made Saddleback what it is today.

There are a lot of books on the site, so we can't guarantee the content of all of them, but it should be a good site to introduce your children to other cultures. Just to be careful, please read the books before introducing them to your children.

"Yes, my confidence as a preacher is in the power of God's Word. That's one of the most exciting things about preaching. It's not because we like to lecture. It's not because people are staring at us and waiting for us to say something. It's because we are driven by the conviction that God's truth, that those truths recorded in human language, have the potential to transform people's lives. And that's the most exciting thing, isn't it? When you proclaim that and you see God work through it? That's what gets you hooked. And once you're hooked, you never go back." - John Koessler, in Getting Gold From the Text on Preachingtoday.com

“The test of a preacher is that his congregation goes away saying, not, 'What a lovely sermon!' but 'I will do something.'” - Billy Graham
