by Joe McKeever

Sometimes the demands of ministry can drown our schedules and make it very difficult to find the time to personally share the Good News. In this article, experienced pastor Joe McKeever gives some tips on how a busy pastor can still leave time in his schedule for personal evangelism. [more]

How to Read a Book
Mortimer J. Adler and Charles Van Doren (Touchstone, 1972)

This book was mentioned on Pastor Rick's podcast a few weeks back. Just like the name suggests, the book helps you get all you can out of every book you read. It's an old book but definitely one to add to your library. You can probably find it cheap by browsing used books.

"Faith is acting before feeling." - Rick Warren

"And what God wants is for us to be made holy." - Hebrews 10:10 (NLT)

Celebrate Recovery Summit (Aug. 15-17) - Help your community and your congregation overcome hurts, habits, and hang-ups through Celebrate Recovery. At this annual sumitt you can learn everything you need to know about developing a Celebrate Recovery ministry at your church.
The Billy Graham Library - This library, which honors the great evangelist Billy Graham, opened earlier this year in Charlotte, N.C. In the library you can follow Graham's journey from the pastures and gravel roads of North Carolina; to “big tents” and arenas in America’s largest cities; to stadiums, televisions, and radios across the globe. It's also the location where Ruth Bell Graham was laid to rest a few weeks ago.
Truth or fiction? - On this site you can check all the Internet rumors that come through your e-mail before they make their way into one of your sermons!
30 Days of Praise, a church-wide emphasis on worship - Renew your church's understanding and experiencing of true, biblical worship through small group Bible studies, personal daily devotions, and supporting sermons and services. Dwayne Moore, a frequent contributor to Toolbox, put together the campaign.
Man breaks into home, asks for hugs - This Washington Post article may make a nice illustration.

Four ways to make Gospel-sharing part of a Christian leader's life - Jeff Iorg

Celebrate Recovery earns church a reputation for helping people - Manda Gibson

Contract praying - Cecil Murphey

Becoming a servant leader through putting others first - Katie Brazelton and Christian Stevenson

Tilling the hearts of our congregations - Kyle Strobel

Using genre as a guide to interpreting Scripture - Robert B. Chisholm, Jr.

How to upgrade your reading intake - Pat Williams with Peggy Matthews Rose

The church and depression: what should we do? (Part 2) - Mary Southerland

"We treat others as we perceive God is treating us." - Max Lucado

"If you want to build a ship, don't drum up people together to collect wood and don't assign them tasks and work, but rather teach them to long for the endless immensity of the sea." - Antoine de Saint-Exupery, found in 3 Seconds by Les Parrott (Zondervan, 2007)

Only 14 percent of evangelicals in the United States believe poverty is something that churches should take the lead in addressing. That's still more than triple the rate of the average population (4 percent). - Source: Barna.org (June, 2007)

"Being a Christian doesn't mean hovering above the ugliness of life. It means we are given the weapons necessary to face wickedness with the hope of creating something good in its place." - Paul Coughlin, No More Jellyfish, Chickens, or Wimps (Bethany House, 2007)

"The God-life cannot be domesticated or used – it can only be entered into on its own terms. Holiness does not make God smaller so that he can be used in convenient and manageable projects; it makes us larger so that God can give out life through us, extravagantly, spontaneously. The holy is an interior fire, a passion for living in and for God, a capacity for exuberance in the presence of God." - Eugene Peterson, The Jesus Way (Eerdmans, 2007)
