Meeting people’s four deepest needs
by Rick Warren
Jesus came so that we would have “life to the fullest” (John 10:10). After salvation, a fulfilled life is one where four basic needs are met – and God has uniquely called the Body of Christ to meet them. In this issue, we’ll identify those four needs and how the church is best equipped to meet them. [more]

How small groups change everything (part one)
by Larry Osborne

Building a healthy small group ministry can quickly change the culture of your church. Once a significant percentage of the congregation begins to meet in small gatherings outside the church building to share life and study the Bible together, frontline ministry begins to happen. In the next two issues, Larry Osborne reveals how to overcome common myths and start building a thriving small group network at your church. [more]

Feel: The Power of Listening to Your Heart
Matthew Elliott (Tyndale, 2008)

Most of us were taught that feelings can’t be trusted – intellectually and spiritually. In this book, Elliott argues just the opposite. He argues that God-given emotions have an important part to play in the life of a believer. Not only are emotions not the enemy of spiritual growth, they are the result of a close walk with God, Elliott says. The book is a great addition to the library of any pastor interested in helping his flock grow spiritually.

"Don’t be troubled by trouble. Circumstances cannot change the character of God." - Rick Warren

"Jesus saw the huge crowd as he stepped from the boat, and he had compassion on them and healed their sick.

That evening the disciples came to him and said, ‘This is a remote place, and it’s already getting late. Send the crowds away so they can go to the villages and buy food for themselves.’

But Jesus said, ‘That isn’t necessary – you feed them.’

‘But we have only five loaves of bread and two fish!’ they answered.

‘Bring them here,’ he said. Then he told the people to sit down on the grass. Jesus took the five loaves and two fish, looked up toward heaven, and blessed them. Then, breaking the loaves into pieces, he gave the bread to the disciples, who distributed it to the people. They all ate as much as they wanted, and afterward, the disciples picked up 12 baskets of leftovers. About 5,000 men were fed that day, in addition to all the women and children!"
- Matthew 14:14-21 (NLT)
