Discipleship: how we grow
by Rick Warren
God created you for five purposes: to worship him (Worship), to love other believers (Fellowship), to become like Christ (Discipleship), to serve others with your gifts (Ministry), and to tell others about him (Evangelism). God’s design is that your life be balanced around these five purposes. This week I want to focus on discipleship with this excerpt from my up-coming book, The Purpose Driven Life. [more]

The RoMANtic's Guide
Michael Webb (Hyperion, 2000)

A few issues ago we gave this book 3 stars because, although excellent, we perceived it as a secular text. Ha, we were wrong! Michael Webb writes, “I am a Christian - I'm even a youth pastor. While my book isn't preachy, it is written based on Christian values and ethics. You will not find anything un-Christian in the book and if you look closely enough, you will see a subtle push for men and women to get to know God and attend church."

Rethinking the Church
By James Emery White (Baker, 1997)

This book helps you grapple with the deepest nature of the church to explore innovative approaches that will enhance the effectiveness of your church's mission. Rick Warren heartily recommends this book.

Islam claims 300 million African adherents, permeates North Africa, dominates a number of sub-saharan nations and sends missionaries throughout the continent. - International Mission Board

Always forgive your enemies. Nothing annoys them so much. - Oscar Wilde

It is not after the storm has arisen, or the telegraph has reported that his ship has struck, that the merchant runs to insure his goods. He takes care of the insurance while the sun is shining and the air calm; he makes sure the insurance is in effect before the ship has cleared from the dock, or at all events before the ship has left the river. You should do the same, you living, but dying people! Now is the accepted time, today. God is with us waiting; his terms are still, "Whosoever will." Today you may enter into life; tomorrow the door may be shut. - Charles Haddon Spurgeon

Being scared can keep a man from getting killed, and often makes a better fighter of him. - Louis L'Amour
